Apricot Glazed Pork Chops

4 Pork rib or loin chops, 1/2" thick
1 ts Salt
1 tb Oil or shortening
16 oz Can apricot halves, drained, reserving liquid
Reserved apricot liquid plus water to make 1 1/2 cups
2 tb Cornstarch
2 ts Lemon juice
2 tb Slivered almonds


Sprinkle chops with salt. Brown in oil on both sides in frying pan. Add 1/2 c of the apricot liquid. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Combine cornstarch and remaining 1 c apricot liquid. Add to chops. Continue simmering, stirring frequently, until liquid thickens. Add apricots and almonds. Cover and continue simmering for 10 minutes.
